Tree Planting Day at Prana Energy: A “Save The Bees” Initiative

On Friday 12th October, Bunjil Energy & Prana Energy had the privilege to kick off an ongoing tree planting project to support the declining numbers of bees.  What would our world look like without bees? Bees are at the top of the list when it comes to important species for survival. They are our most critical pollinators, pollinating around 70% of our crop species which feed 90% of the world. Honey bees are responsible for $30 billion a year in crops.

In light of NAIDOC’s theme this year, I have decided to share some words over the coming days about a couple of First Nations Women who have impacted my life. There are numerous aunties, cousins, friends and grandparents whom I wish to reference. Aunties who spent their weekends coming down to touch football carnivals to cheer on their nephews and nieces. Nanna, who needed a walker to get around, cheering me on during soccer grand finals. To this day, I can hear her voice amongst the crowd shouting “Go Lifuy!”, my middle name from my Kanaka roots. In Indigenous culture, the women hold a lot of responsibility. Women are in charge of resources management, children's education and are included in the tribes’ decision-making process (depending on their respective tribes)

The Bunjil and Prana Energy teams attended this year’s Supply Connect 2018 Event in Sydney, held on the 22nd and 23rd May. The Connect 2018 event is the largest indigenous business event in Australia and our team members had a great time networking with indigenous businesses, government and corporate representatives looking to meet their indigenous and renewable energy targets. Featured on the agenda were a full-day knowledge forum, an indigenous business trade show followed by a gala awards dinner. The event showcased several renowned speakers across various industries, discussing the benefits of supplier diversity to achieve an inclusive economy.
